== Une légende Matis ==

Dans la forêt primitive des Hauteurs Verdoyantes, vivent de puissants sénateurs verts-vêtus, leur têtes dans la Voute et leurs racines chatouillant le ventre d'[[Atys]]. Dans la légende Matis, ces arbres gigantesques ont été engendrés par le premier et immortel [[Matis]].

Les Dryades Antiques faisaient partie de la grande creation du [[Grand Mentor]]. Mais avant que sa Volonté ne puisse s'accomplir sur Atys, ses architectes immortels furent corrompus par la [[Goo]] et transformés en humbles [[Homins]] par des croisements et des mutations.

Les premiers empereurs Matis de descendance Homin conclurent un pacte avec ces dryades puissantes et employèrent la sinistre force des Dryades antiques contre leurs ennemis. Pour cela, ces anciens commandèrent une armée de plantes carnivores qui gardaient les plus anciens bosquets et secrets des Dryades.

Le pacte fut longtemps négligé par les Matis, qui etaient plus occupés par les intrigues de la cour, et il se dissolut avec le temps. Les anciens se sont depuis attaqués à leur géniteurs. Les ingrates Dryades cherchent a détruire toute forme de vie qui pourrait ralentir leur expansion sur et sous l'ecorce d'Atys. Mais puisqu'elles sont profondement enracinées, elles ne peuvent pas elles-memes se transplanter. Ainsi leurs maléfiques serviteurs aident a leur expansion en transplantant leur Graines et en attaquant quiconque tenterait d'entrer dans les bosquets de ces nouveaux jeunes arbres.

Il est dit que les anciens possèdent aussi l'immense pouvoir de controler l'esprit de toute forme de vie intelligente, dictant les actions, et meme retournant les Homins les uns contre les autres.

Quand un nouvel Ancien vient à germer, ses serviteurs nettoient le bosquet sur des kilomètres pour laisser à l'Arbre la place de pousser et traverser l'Ecorce de la planète. Leurs racines géantes pompent les ressources, deviant la precieuse eau des sources qui alimentent les merveilleux jardin Matis et leur laboratoire botaniques secrets.

La légende dit qu'au plus profond, sous l'Ecorce d'un bosquet d'Anciens, se tient un des nombreux portails perdus vers le dépositaire de la [[Graine Céleste]], qui contient le secret de la '''Grande Magie Matis''', leur ''''pierre philosphale'''', comme La [[Karavan]] y fait obscurement référence (en fait la pierre n'est qu'un concept pour les Atysiens qui n'en ont jamais vu).
