The Kingdom of Matia once held Atys with a grip like a Frahar's Fist ... The Zorai were deep in their jungle cities far away practising strange arcana , the Tryker were happy and carefree and though the Fyros were powerful they could not rival the might and majesty of the matisian armies, crafts and magicka.
Then came The Great Swarming
Although I have spent long hours delving into the records of our guild and the amber cubes of the sages I can find nothing concerning the history of this time. The only thing anyone can be sure about was that Hominkind was in chaos and in great peril.
Yet the Kitin did not destroy hominkind ... and by the grace of Jena and her servants the Karavan homins slowly trickled into new lands, the Matis taking the beautiful verdant heights and erecting the city of Yrkanis under the leadership of King Yasson. It is here that our story starts ....
King Yasson was a king worthy of the forgotten times of prosperity: Noble, Wise and Kind in Peace ; Swift, Mighty and Terrible in War. Yet as I delved into the archives of many races and guilds I unravelled more about King Yasson.
For he alone was not the greatest of homins, in fact he kept a council of homins unlike any council before. Any Matis child knows the names of the two greatest heroes of Matis: Matini Roqvini ... the warrior who drove the Kitin from the gardens and groves of Matis and learned the tricks of killing these beasts. Lenardi Bravichi ... the magician, scientist and engineer beyond comparison, who grew many of the finest buildings in Matis and rediscovered the ancient arts of the manipulation of life. However few people remember that Yasson held a council of warriors, mages and sages wiser and stronger by far than these commonly known heroes - It was they who devised the master strategies that took Karavia by trickery more than force, they who stopped the Kami plots which few have even heard of - indeed I cannot say any more of the kami for fear of my life ...
But prosperity and nobility cannot last forever, and in the year 2504, Yassons younger half-brother Jinovitch poisoned Yasson and led the Matis on a crusade for power that ever since has tarnished the name of Matis and led to the breaking of the delicate balance of power and trade between the nations of Atys...
Jinovitchs first act as the new king , even before he sent for the head of Yrkanis, son of Yasson and true king, was to destroy Yasson's secret council ... for Jinovitch knew that they would stop at nothing to destroy him utterly. Many of the tales of sages being burned due to kami sympathies are the mistaken executions of Yassons closest advisors and generals...
However one member of the council survived ... the youngest member who, as he was captured, took such a violent blow that he forgot his identity and all he had known about his past and king Yasson ... although the records are clouded in time ... it seems clear ... this was the son of Matini Roqvini and a mysterious female member of the Kuild ... the guild of karavan worshipers.
It is not clear as the knowledge has faded with time, but this homins mother was known as 'the Mouthpiece of Jena' ... some have said she was Jena herself , in incomparably beautiful form. Whatever the case, the last survivor of the Council of Yasson had strange power, both of magic and wisdom, as well as the strength and skill with arms of his father. As he travelled the land seeking his lost memory he became known as the 'Nameless Wanderer' ...
