Ranger training was developed by Orhie Dradius†, Melga Folgore and Wuaoi Yai-Zhio during the 26th century JY.
Ranger training is conducted in three stages of increasing difficulty:
− Basic training, preliminary to the following.
− Aspirant Ranger training: taking the rite
− Taking the Ranger rite, which allows acquiring the title.

Basic Instruction and Training : Apprentice Pathfinder

Homins who wish to become Rangers must assimilate and conform to the precepts of the Rangers. These include neutrality towards nations and higher powers.

  1. Candidates must therefore first abandon, if necessary, their allegiances or citizenship.
  2. The Rangers are not enemies of anyone and are committed to maintaining their reputation with other nations and factions. The apprentice rangers must therefore, throughout the training course improve their fame with them, then maintain it; otherwise they could lose their badge after acquiring it. Each step of the initiation process requires a minimum fame level, consistent across nations and factions.
  3. Familiarization with Atysian magnetism: The rangers' teleportation techniques call upon the “magnetism” of ambers on Atys. The training naturally starts in Zora near the magnetic well that is used by Cartographers [1].
    1. Yo Go-Jin, instructor : You learn to locate magnetic points, then meditate there, not very far away at first. This first task is not very difficult to make you feel confident
    2. Ba'duty Aepsie, guide: The test is a little more difficult this time, but similar to the first one. Ba'duty will give you a more powerful amber and a map of the regions where to look for the magnetic points.
    3. When you have passed these trials, go to the Almati Wood and meet Trino Lichio who will award you the title and tell you the conditions necessary to continue your apprenticeship.

Ranger Aspirant

- Further fame enhancement...
Magnetized Amber
Amber Cube of Ranger Precepts
— The Ranger Aspirant Rite: Acquiring Teleportation Skills: the Tunnels

For the final stage of the training, cadets must go to Almati Wood and meet Trino Lichio. He will give the candidate a new magnetized amber, more powerful, which will allow you to locate and cross "tunnels" that allow you to move quickly through the bark. After an exercise stage, you will have to locate the openings to the most remote and dangerous regions of the surface of the bark.

— Once the task is completed the candidates will return to Trino who will tell them how to obtain their Ranger Aspirant badge [2] as well as an amber cube reminding them the Rangers’ precepts.

Ranger

At the start of the rescue mission
— Further fame improvement: your fame should now be close to its maximum.
— The Ranger Rite : Once you have obtained the aspirant title, and you have sufficient fames, (and a certain level as a fighter and/or a mage) you can claim the title of “Ranger”. A last challenge will be asked to you to get it. It is a rescue mission (in real conditions and in team) of groups of refugees who are still walking the terminal part of the Oflovak Road that the Rangers are watching. This road, as you probably know, ends not far from the island of Silan. That's why this mission starts there. The necessary explanations will be given by Xypholion Ioros and his assistant Be'arlly Emer. Once on-site, Ku Co-Yon will provide you with the necessary equipment and will take care of you and your team.

If the mission is successful, Xypholion Ioros will award the title to all candidates as soon as the whole team is back on Silan.

Amber map of magnetic tunnels
— Go back to Almati Wood again to get the amber map that allows you to reach under bark, the dangerous regions of the Prime Roots. Quartermaster Pero Antorini provides it and gives the necessary explanations.

And what's next?

The map you have been given is not yet complete. Of course, the entry points that you found during the midshipman training are listed, but not the ones in the depths. It will be up to you, with the help of your guild or other Rangers, to complete it with the entry points of the Prime Roots tunnels, and this isn't the easy part.

— The map must be periodically updated after being used for a fee to contribute to the Rangers' deeds[3]. Pero Antorini as well as ranger quartermasters who stand near the capitals' entrances will allow you to do this easily.
  • Fame with the tribes of Atys
  • The assemblies
