Similar to the bambù of the Lakes, this plant is characterized by rapidly growing lignified hollow stems forming a dense thicket.
Its flowering is very rare. The taleng is used as a material for ephemeral constructions, scaffoldings, but also for dishes and utensils.
The young shoots are consumed and are used with the faham to make a strong zoraï alcohol.
