A slender tree with a smooth trunk which forms the vault of the jungle, the dorao can reach 120 feet high.
Its small pink flowers can be seen from the ground in the spring and it produces small winged seeds, non-edible, that flutter around.
The dorao'i[1] shelter an epiphytic plant of a liana type that often hangs from the top and flowers at the same time as the tree. Zoraïs use these lianas to braid ropes.
The wood of the dorao is rather hard and is used in construction, especially for the characteristic floors of zoraï buildings.
Zoraïs like to meet underneath their foliages to converse.
- ↑ The suffix 'i is in Taki Zoraï the plural mark.
