Loojines are plants found in great numbers throughout the Burning Desert; they are composed of a colored ball contained in a network of thin entangled branches.
Some botanists think that the ball in its center is actually the fruit of the loojine. However, recent research has shown that these balls are only reservoirs used to store sap. This part never comes off the plant and shows no change between seasons other than colour, which suggests that it is not really a fruit. It contains a greenish liquid rich in water.
The loojine flowers are very small and scattered along the network of branches constituting the "cage" that turns green in autumn. Their pollen is brown.
The Fyros use them as a source of water by piercing the central ball to make the sap flow.
Some botanists suggest that they are related to the papalexis of Lucenthead Hurst.
