Dear Wiki enthusiasts, Recently I joined your ranks. I have spoken with few of you to introduce myself and at the same time I had look at few pages. It was absolutely obvious that there is plenty issues that should be addressed. There for I would like to invite you all to create a document that we could use as handover to [RT]. Content of document should be as short as possible yet clearly stating our goals. To accommodate that I would suggest to define major parts, maybe even supported by examples. Before we will be able to create such document we should first internally agree on our vision of the wiki. There for I would suggest creating a wiki page were we will gradually consolidate our efforts. If you see better option please do not hesitate to suggest it.

Target: Creating wiki that is safe to be updated and easy to customize to our needs.

Wiki Concepts

  • Use templates, for everything.
  • Consistency
  • Separate style from content
  • I18n

Wiki configuration

  • Needed extensions

Added by Craftjenn on RC

  • new update (core etc)
  • Needed extensions (a search one for sure, at least)
  • need 2 groups for security concern: Team and Lore - see https://ts.ryzom.com/f/151841

For display in game, we created 2 templates (on FR and EN wikis)

Don't forget that EN and DE are quite the same. But FR is very big and very different (templates, content etc). See statistics on Wiki_Technical_Guide/Statistics_on_the_March_5th_2020

Wiki backoffice

  • Each template should contain its documentation.
  • Define reusable templates.
  • Flexible layout, faction dependent.
  • Wiki contributors

Design

Maybe it would be a good idea to have a visual representation of some of the aspects described below?

Mainpage layout

  • Main page -> define unique layout, fe: MainPageLayout, short: MPL
    • Nations page -> use subpage template layout, fe: SubPageLayout, short: SPL
      • Trykers
      • Zorai
      • Matis
      • Fyros
    • Geography
      • Lakes
      • Desert
      • Woods
      • Jungle
      • Prime roots
    • Factions
      • Kami
      • Karavan
      • Marauders
      • Rangers
      • Trytonists
    • Role play
      • Atys Chronicles
      • The Great Library
      • Mysteries OOC
    • Wikis
      • Guides
      • Something
      • EvenMoreSomething
  • Layout templates:
    • MPL I would suggest rethinking of content on that page. When I started playing game and visited our wiki for the first time, I scared myself to death as I thought time travel is real. Colors are shocking, content is chaotic (altho, I think that chaos in content could be result of unclear procedures or/and not unified template structure) .
    • SPL
      • Menu
      • Banner
      • Info
      • Text

Structure

  • Page
    • Table structure (defines layout)
      • ContentBox (Coherent content container)
        • Paragraph
        • Links
        • Articles
        • Banners
        • Messages

CSS

  • CSS:
    • Decision: what do we put in CSS and what do we want to control in wiki?
    • Follow [RT] design
  • Color pallete

CSS centric

  • Fluid layot: PC/Smartphone/Tablet

Procedural steps

  • Design
  • Implementation
  • Tests/Verification
  • Acceptance
