The beginning

Some time after the Great Swarming, my family with a large group of homins fled their lands, expatriated and persecuted for believing in the leader’s words named Elias Tryton, who questioned the good intentions of the Powers.

My group then had to face all the inclemencies and vicissitudes of the Desert, only supplied by what little they could take in their flight and protected by the strength of our race. However, during the exodus we were slowly exterminated by the beasts and homins followers of the powers; Ocyx, Kinchers, Cuttlers and others were taking account of some of us. Only Shooki's liquor kept our people happy.

Thus, after much walking through different corners of the Desert, from the beloved Emperors' Valley we traveled in comings and goings the Oflovak's Oasis, the Frahar Towers, the territories of Dyron and Thesos, the vast Sand Dunes and the scorched territories of the Flaming Forest and the Dragon's Gorge, fleeing, always fleeing. A small group of a few hundred homins that stayed together since Pyr's departure decided to disperse to hide, taking paths to different nations, to the Tryker’s lakes, the Zoraï’s jungle and my group, of a few tens of homins went to the Matis’ forests through the passage leading to the Hidden Source, that small group decided to seek refuge in one of the clans of the Marauders although with fear because of the reputation of violence they possessed; Nevertheless, they were warmly welcomed and remained there until our group grew.

Some of our people identified with the Marauder lifestyle and philosophy and were assimilated into the clan, many others decided to resume their lives grateful for the protection those so-called bloodthirsty ones offered us during our stay, some still with fanatical fervor in the words Tryton spoke but now hidden among the multitudes of nations, clans and guilds.

Others simply observed the past as a bitter history without meaning, one formed by fanaticism, fear, hatred or simple ignorance, these also said goodbye to the clan gratefully, but equally hiding their origin in the hope that someday hominity will coexist in peace, regardless of their beliefs. I am a descendant of the latter group, the one who fled Pyr, persecuted by their homins brothers, but who in their wanderings in the desert and finally in Matis lands strengthened their spirit, who received shelter and appreciation from the Marauders, and lived the horror that comes from ignorance and sectarism.

My beginnings

My story far from my family begins in a hunting trip in Matis lands. A small group of hunters, of which I was the least experienced, went into very dangerous territories near the Grove of Confusion and in an oversight we were almost surrounded by jugulas and ocyx. In that situation the leader shouted at us to flee in different directions in order to increase our chances of survival. In that race I lost my way, and slipped through bushes and groves until I fell somewhere I still know not, in that place my being was somehow absorbed and I awoke in Silan on Quarta date, Nivia 16, 4th AC 2577, with no memory of me or my origin.

In Silan a burly Zoraï, Chiang the Strong, awoke me with a captivating benevolence, that was the first time I learned first hand of the Rangers, a whole camp that welcomed homins like me who awoke unconscious and totally helpless. A place where with patience and sweet, and sometimes bitter words, I recovered little by little my abilities and my consciousness, where other homins helped me in such a stage in a totally disinterested way. When the time came, after having sufficiently strengthened myself and recovered some memories, I was told that I was ready to return to the continent and indeed I returned to the lands of my ancestors, the Fyros.

Pyr turned out to be a huge and crowded city. In this land I was greeted by Itzy and Teeneemai, members of the Phaedrea's Tears, who were my guides and offered me help without encroaching on my independence, just as Big Blue Chiang once did, and generously supported my search for my memory and my truth.

My search

After many years at the side of Phaedrea's Tears, much of the history of my origins came back to my mind, it is at that moment that I decide to continue a solitary path that would allow me to contrast the apparently contradictory ideas of the Rangers, Marauders and Trytonists, and I returned to the Matis lands where marauder clans live, there nobody knew or wanted to give me indications of my family, maybe because it vanished or to protect them, so I could not link more with those who left for fear of their extermination due to their beliefs, but I returned to live with the Marauders, and according to my appreciation the only thing that differentiates them from the Rangers is their idea towards the unity of the homins.

'While the Rangers seek the unity of hominity with absolute neutrality and collaboration with all, the Marauders conceive it as the result of the freedom and independence of the Powers and of the Nations, even if it must be done by force'.

I remembered then that horror that comes from sectarianism, and often from ignorance, so I decided to return and be again a Tear in my Guild, one that will not cease in its search for truths, even those hidden beneath a promontory of lies.

My destiny

Sadly, it seems that the Kitin threat has become our greatest curse and, at the same time, the greatest blessing for hominity, since it is the only visible point in which we all recognize each other as homins and help each other to preserve ourselves from extinction. A sad reality is that our fear of death seems to be the only thing that unites us. I myself struggle with myself not to take sides when there are ideas that divide us, trying to be neutral even in the face of what at first glance seems to be an unfair and absurd fight between homins. Being a Ranger is not easy and sometimes my own experiences and the teachings I received in my youth tempt me to return to the path of the Marauder. Nationalities, religions or ideas should not divide us, on the contrary they should unify us and guide us to a better destiny... one in which Atys be our only nation and Hominity our only faith.

It will perhaps be my destiny to take the Oflovak Road in the direction of the Old Lands, to experience that vision in which nations and factions no longer exist, that in which also death is final, and my existence will perhaps only become a review or a legend of a homin who walked on Atys, or simply end in oblivion.
