Welcome!
Ryzom is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Ryzom is a "sandbox" type game; that is, you can do whatever you want in it as long as it does not exceed the limits of the technical restrictions, those of the Lore or of the behavior rules.
Unlike most other MMORPGs, there is no story to follow, there are no prescribed actions, there is no imposed order to perform them. Your character can improve all his skills (combat, magic, crafting and piercing) and go wherever you want in "a world without barriers". When you launch Ryzom, you open a window to adventure. When you play Ryzom, you play in freedom. When you train at Ryzom, it is to improve the skills that you will never lose. No final victory makes you "finish the game". Ryzom has no end.
General presentation
Before you jump in...
There is no general level in Ryzom. Your level (more precisely, of the character you are playing) in each of the skills is displayed in the ACTIONS window (B key by default). When someone asks you about your level, it is the level of your character in the skill used or discussed.
There are no classes, no restrictions, at Ryzom! Any character can acquire and use any, or all, of the skills available in the game. None of the Atys races have an advantage in any of these abilities, except from the point of view of role-playing. Your character's race does not affect your gameplay in any way.

Ryzom's chat (conversation windows) offer great possibilities. Still it is necessary to know them...
The explanations on this page are about IG chat (in-game). You can also use a browser, and have access to the chat without being logged into the game via chat. Very useful for exchanging links on the web (copying / pasting is easier there), or in case of technical problems or decoration / reco (log in with the name of the person played and the password of the game)...

More to know
Webapps are small apps developed by players, they synchronize with the server (and sometimes to other servers) at regular intervals, often there is a lag of 10 to 20 minutes. Some apps do not have quite the same IG and out-of-game features (with browser) - please also check the configuration of the API key used (it is convenient to create one key per app).
You can access the apps either in-game or via a browser (log in with your personal name and password).
